* Starting in the year 1980 the traditional male symbol (♂) was replaced by Tom Selleck's Mustache? This short, sweet era ended in 1988 with the cancellation of Magnum P.I.
* The Peace Sign was originally designed as a floor decoration for the Capital Building. Ingeniously it hid a trap door to trick Communists.
* Although when it first appeared, the Dollar sign contained two parallel lines through it, one was soon removed when economists realized that the double lines conveyed the false promise of equality. "Not in my America" said President Nixon, as he waterboarded a trapped Communist.
